“HOW CAN I NOT HAVE TO TAG ALL FAMILY MEMBERS IN EVERY FACEBOOK POST I MAKE ABOUT OUR GENEALOGY?”
I was complaining to my husband that whenever I make a genealogy-related post, I want to share with all my family, but only a few people are seeing them. So I was actually contemplating tagging everybody. Since most of my Facebook friends are family, that’s a lot of tagging.
“Just make a private Facebook Group,” he said.
Why didn’t I think of that?

There are going to be a lot of genealogy posts, as I continue to go through my mother’s extensive genealogy information. You should also know that it will take a while, as organization was not one of her strong points. 🙂
But I had more reasons than just that to create the Group:
- You’ll have access to Catherine Shumaker Brinson’s extensive genealogical information that I’m slowly uncovering.
- You’ll get to read her original poetry and short stories.
- When I get each actual, real genealogy book available on Amazon, you’ll have immediate access to it, to have for yourself or for your children/grandchildren, or other relatives.
- You’ll have a place to share information you have that would be of interest to other family members. Do you have an heirloom? Do you have a family story? Do you have photos of our ancestors? It’s time for Show and Tell!
- We’ll all have a place where we can come and socialize with extended family… Kind of like a great big family reunion! Do you have cousins you don’t know? I do, and now I’ll have a place to start getting to know them.
