WILLIAM GOES TO AUBURN! HOW DO I KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT THIS IS AUBURN? TOOMER’S CORNER NOW, EVEN AFTER 80 YEARS OF MODERNIZATION, IS STILL RECOGNIZABLE!
Of course, when William went to Auburn, the college wasn’t Auburn University – it was called Alabama Polytechnic Institute. It wasn’t until 1960 that the name was changed to Auburn University.
I’d like to encourage you to load all photos and documents that you’re interested in keeping to your own flash drive. If anything happens to me, this website and everything on it will eventually disappear.

Ivey Genealogy Information and Photos Scanned and Uploaded September 9, 2022 – William goes to Auburn!
The photos on page 9 are not numbered, so I have arbitrarily numbered them from 1-32.
1. This is probably a college friend of William’s, as he is wearing a “Letter Sweater”.
He is also in a photo from the scrapbook on page 1.
2 through 8. People and places in Anniston.
Photo #2 is Sidney Ivey
Photo #4 is home.
Photo #6 is Andrew Ivey
9 and 10. Preparing for a Parade in Auburn.
11 through 15. Parade / Event at Toomer’s Corner.
#11 is at Toomer’s Corner looking west down Magnolia.
#12 is at Toomer’s Corner looking north down College Street.
#15 is at Toomer’s Corner looking northwest toward the building at 101 North College Street, which was a bank at the time.
16. What lake is this?
17. Model airplanes and Andrew Ivey with a model airplane.
18 through 27. A variety of real airplanes and aerial views of a town.
If anybody knows who the young woman is in #19, please let me know. I think she’s probably a relative, but possibly could be a friend or a girlfriend.
Also, what town is this? It could be Anniston, Auburn, or somewhere entirely different. If you know, please tell me and I’ll update this page.
28 through 30. Sidney and Andrew playing cowboys in some rocks.
31 and 32.
#32 is a photo of five ladies. The lady in the center appears to be Orie.
Because of family resemblances, I believe that the photo is of Orie and her two sisters with two other ladies. If anybody knows for certain, please let me know.
